So, it’s been a while since I last blogged, which is exactly what I thought would happen. Blogging regularly is probably never going to happen, but here’s a quick check in since the last one.
We had a weeks break from work at the end of April, for child care reasons as family were going on holiday – the perks and pitfalls of using grandparents for child care! At the last minute, we decided to rent a car and take ourselves off to Scarborough for a couple of days – the weather was pleasant, and we had a rather good time – building sandcastles and visiting my husbands family.
We also had a nice day at Beamish Open Air Museum, visiting ye olde shops, fairgrounds and farm attractions – a must if you ever visit the North East of England, a really fun family day out!
Since then, I’ve won an iPad mini (through a competition run by our local shopping centre), turned 29yrs of age, and hurt my back yet again. It’s been a varied few weeks.
A couple of pictures below – the first is Sophia at Scarborough’s North Bay, and the second is the two of us in the old town at Beamish.

My lovely friend Karen got me the Green & Black Chocolate cookbook for my birthday last year, and as usual with any recipe book, it wasn’t used much. So with the free time, I finally put it to good use! I made some chocolate scones, and a chocolate and banana bread loaf. Both turned out well (surprisingly!), and are quite a tasty treat this weekend!
Other than that, this weekend functioned as normal. Food shopping got done, with our customary visit to the Sainsbury’s cafe (Pictured with Sophia!). A rather nice weekend, before the long week ahead at work! Five more days though, and we’re off for a week! Excited!
